Desmond Simpson & Sons commenced operations in January 1991 with Desmond (owner) and his eldest son Graham (Purchase Director), putting just one delivery van on the road. As every month passed their stock and customers base have increased. Nigel Simpson then joined the family business and assisted the continued growth in 1992. Nigel manages sales throughout Ireland which has increased year after year. Paul Simpson, Desmond’s youngest son joined the business in the1997 and looks after key accounts on the UK mainland.

Desmond Simpson has always been instrumental in the purchase of land and warehousing which has been a definite asset in the progress of this family concern. Now in 2010 they are now stocking in the region of 135,000 tyres and selling more than 1 million tyres per year. This has been possible due to the 80,000 square feet warehouse facilities in Cookstown that deal with such a workload.

Initially the majority of their sales where in Northern Ireland but now trucks are been sent to all over Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales on a daily basis. In more recent years there have also been considerable sales into mainland Europe.

The company now employs 30 full time staff and deploys 12 delivery vehicles throughout Ireland. The early days produced a turnover of £250,000 but by 2010 turnover was in excess of £26 million (€32m, $42m).
